Full-frame (or new-construction-style) replacement removes the entire old window—sash, frame, and trim—down to the rough opening. A new window with a nailing fin is then installed, flashed, and sealed.
This method is recommended when your frames are damaged, water-stained, or rotting; when you want to change the window size or style; or when you want to address hidden moisture and air leaks behind the frame.
